Originally posted on my Twitter. Since it's private and I tend to delete my tweets once a month or so (talk about being paranoid LOL), so I decided to save a copy here and added few sentences to further convey my feelings hoho.
Divergent 2014 Brief Review
Surprisingly, the film adaptation managed to eliminate many, umm, undesirable stuff that makes me hate the book with passion. Kudos to the scriptwriters for coming up with a decent script for the otherwise lackluster book. I couldn't hate Tris the film version, unlike the original Tris. And boy, Four in the flesh is much, much better than the Four in the book. It's no secret that I abhor the author for making Tris a selfish, needy teenager who somehow managed to survive despite of her ineptness. I mean, who in the right mind can even entertain the thought of kissing one's boyfriend after just losing both parents a few hours before? I'm so glad they omitted that part in the film and they made them hug instead.
Since I can actually finished watching the film adaptation without pushing the forward button, I'm certainly looking forward to watch the next installment. Still not going to finish the 2nd book. Too cringe-worthy (and the writing left a little to be desired).
